Colorado district drops Texas-developed Bluebonnet reading curriculum

Elementary schools in the Montezuma-Cortez school district in southwestern Colorado stopped using Bluebonnet, a reading curriculum developed by the state of Texas, on Wednesday [1]. The change followed a 4-3 school board vote to reject the curriculum, which came four days after the superintendent said Biblical material would be taken out of the lessons [1]. The district, which partners with Houston ISD on reform efforts, left staff at its three elementary schools looking for replacement lessons that week [1].
