Report: Some deaf migrants deported in 2026 lacked sign language interpreters
Reporting by Mother Jones found that some of the more than 100 deaf immigrants deported from the U.S. in 2026 had no sign language interpreter, or received interpretation that did not meet their needs, even though interpreters are supposed to be provided during interactions with immigration enforcement officials [1].
