Texas' Manning, Texas A&M's Reed on 2026 Manning Award preseason watch list
The Allstate Sugar Bowl announced Monday that Texas senior quarterback Arch Manning was named to the preseason watch list for the 2026 Manning Award, his first appearance on the preseason list after being one of 15 finalists last season [1]. Texas A&M quarterback Marcel Reed, a 2025 finalist and a 2026 team captain, also made the list, his fifth preseason honor alongside the Maxwell, Walter Camp and Johnny Unitas Golden Arm watch lists [2]. The award, created in honor of the college careers of Archie, Peyton and Eli Manning, is the only quarterback honor whose balloting factors in bowl and playoff performances [1][2]. Former Texas quarterbacks Vince Young (2005) and Colt McCoy (2009) previously won it [1], and Manning was also named this month to the Davey O'Brien Award watch list for a second straight year [5].
