TxDOT lowers SH 361 speed limit near Port Aransas to 50 mph

The Texas Department of Transportation is dropping the speed limit on part of State Highway 361 near Port Aransas from 60 mph to 50 mph starting Tuesday, Aug. 25, along the stretch between Park Road 22 and a point south of Beach Access Road 1A [1]. Electronic message boards will alert drivers to the new limit along the corridor [1]. TxDOT is also collecting public feedback on further safety improvements ahead of an upcoming town hall [1]. Separately, the agency said the FM 481 bridge in Uvalde County would reopen Aug. 23 after more than $3 million in emergency repairs, following a July 17 flood that washed away the bridge approach [2].
