Hubble Image Shows Superbubble in Large Magellanic Cloud Nebula N44
NASA released a Hubble Space Telescope image, dated Sept. 3, 2026, of the nebula N44 in the Large Magellanic Cloud [1]. The nebula's two main features are a large central void and a surrounding shell of dense, dusty gas [1]. The void, described as a superbubble, measures roughly 210 by 140 light-years [1]. NASA attributes its formation to the stars at the center of the void, whose stellar winds and supernovae pushed out much of the surrounding gas [1].
